Features
- A perfect starter coop. Small run and nesting area combined into one low profile unit.
- A 6' x 3' form factor -- only 2 feet tall.
- Metal mesh along three sides, for excellent ventilation in the hot Texas summers.
- An access door at each end. One for food/water/free-range access, the other for collecting your delicious eggs.
- Same high-quality construction found in our larger coops.
- Half inch “hardware cloth” used for all mesh surfaces. Better protection from pretators than traditional 1″ poultry netting.
- All lumber is fully sealed with food-safe linseed oil. (Linseed is often given as a food suppliment to birds — no toxic chemicals.)
- Galvanized roof is highly reflective, held in place with silicon sealed screws, and can be easily replaced if damaged.
- Open bottom so that fertilizer drops directly to the ground. Move the coop occasionally, or lay down bedding.
- Nesting area is floored, keeping the nest boxes 4 inches above the ground.
Dimensions
- The coop is 37" wide and 73" long.
- From ground to peak of roof, only 25 inches tall.
- Easy for two people to lift. Can be moved around the yard by one person.
- Will fit through a 26″ fence gate opening. Can be tilted sideways to slide though narrow gates -- no high lifts!
Materials
Our coops are available in either Cedar or Pine, the more popular being Cedar. (The photographs and videos show Cedar coops.)
Cedar is a natural renewable material, which we seal to improve its already excellent water shedding capabilities. It is highly resistant to insects and to water and requires very little maintenance. As with all cedar, it can be sealed, but it can not be painted. (Cedar has natural oils which protect the wood internally. These oils cause latex based paints to peel and bubble over time.)
Pine is also a natural renewable material, which we have introduced for those customers who would prefer a paintable surface. In its natural state it is not resistant to insects or water, so will require a high quality stain and seal, or paint. All pine coops can be ordered with a natural sealer, or bare wood. Please note that bare wood must be painted by the end user.
For all versions, the four upright posts will be in cedar. Cedar is important for these parts, as it is highly resistant to termites and to rot.
Note that if you are considering moving the unit on a regular basis, Cedar is recommended due to its lighter weight. The Cedar models of our coops weigh a third less than the Pine models.
You may have read some about concerns with using Cedar around chickens. Cedar contains natural oils which protect the wood from boring predators (this is the oil which gives the Cedar its distinct scent). The concern about using Cedar primarily relates to the use of Cedar as bedding materials (shavings and sawdust). This should be avoided. Cedar as a building material is very common for bird boxes and houses (many Owl Boxes are other large bird houses use Cedar).

Lead Time
Our coops are normally available within five (5) business days. This is our full-time job and we dedicate ourselves to timely delivery.
Delivery Information
Shipping is expensive. Many manufactuers have pricing which includes shipping. What they don’t often make clear is that a significant portion of your purchase price is the shipping cost. Frankly, we would rather sell our units locally at a reasonable price, than make them unaffordable.
We can arrange to deliver the units personally. At this time we can offer delivery within Central Texas. Delivery is an extra cost. We believe in fairness, and will only charge actual costs. The minimum delivery charge (to Central Austin) is about $40. Plan on spending $60 to $100 on delivery costs (truck rental, insurance, gas, milage, rental tax).

If you have a truck with a hitch, you may choose to rent a U-Haul 6' x 12' open trailer. This unit has unlimited milage and costs $29.95 per day, plus insurance and taxes. The 6x12 trailer will haul a Brentwood coop (on its side), a 6' run, and a run adapter. Several customers have successfully used this trailer for local deliveries.
Delivery is an extra cost. We believe in fairness, and will only charge appropriately (gas, time, mileage).
